Trick or Treat hours will be on Saturday, October 31 from 5-8 pm. If you will be distributing anything to Trick or Treaters this year, or if your own children will go out to Trick or Treat, the City of Beverly has a few reminders for you.

Getting Books This Year

Ms. Woznick, the BMS School Librarian, is in the process of meeting with teams throughout the school to review the many ways students can get reading materials this year. This document reviews many different choices for accessing books, ebooks, eaudiobooks, and more.

We are particularly lucky to have access to the Mass Library System's Commonwealth ebook collection through the Sora app. Students can download the app from Self Service onto their iPads, or you can get it for free from app stores for personal devices. This video demonstrates how to get Sora and set it up.

Resilient Together Community Survey

The Cities of Beverly and Salem have officially kicked off Resilient Together, a collective plan to address climate change.

Resilient Together invites residents and business owners – including students – to participate in an online survey where you can share concerns and priorities as they relate to the environment and community resiliency. It takes approximately five minutes to complete and will be active until November 8th.

The survey is also offered in Spanish and in Portuguese. A printable copy of the survey is available on the project website in Albanian as well.

See this flyer for more information or visit the Resilient Together project website. Follow it on social media on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter. Still have questions? Contact Beverly's Assistant Planning Director, Emily Hutchings at ehutchings@beverlyma.gov.

Message from the Superintendent

This message went out to families on Wednesday afternoon and is replicated here for your reference:

Good Evening Beverly Parents and Families,

I am writing this afternoon to thank you all for your vigilance in complying with the safety measures, particularly in monitoring your child prior to sending them to school.

I would like to ask you all to add an additional layer of protection for our school community. We continue to see the numbers rising across the North Shore and recognize that the state is experiencing an uptick in the spread of the virus. We ask that if you, as a parent, or a member of your family or household are experiencing symptoms, of if you have taken a test for COVID-19 and are awaiting the results of the test, please keep your child at home until your results are in or your symptoms have subsided. This will help us keep our students safe and our classrooms and schools open. We are working diligently to maintain a safe school environment.

Thank you again for your continued support and partnership in this effort!

Sincerely,

Sue Charochak, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Be Brave Board Updated

The Global Apps Be Brave Board has been updated! Note that by clicking on the menu bar (3 little lines at the top of the screen) students access information on activities posted earlier.

Students are given time in their schedule each week to spend on engaging with these activities.

  • Everyone should prioritize Wellness choices.
  • Hybrid students should sample activities outside their in-person Global Apps classes once they have completed any assignments required by those teachers for that class. They should fill out the exit ticket for the week (posted at the top of the Be Brave board) after completing each activity.
  • RLA students need to complete at least 3 activities each week and have now been assigned to a Global Apps teacher's Google Classroom.
Each week we encourage students to share what they are doing on a Padlet. This is optional - but fun!
