Band is Virtual Today

Math Team Finds Success

The BMS math team had a great start to their year with a 100 points in meet 1. They had a solid mystery round to start and finished with a great algebra round of 26 points. The team round was strong, led by the team captain Joshua Sidmore, they ended the meet with 20 points. There were some great contributions from new 8th grade members and top scores by returning members Nick Jacobsen in 7th grade and Madeleine Young in 8th grade.

Bookmobile at BMS Next Week

The Beverly Public Library Bookmobile stops at BMS on Tuesday, November 17 and Monday, November 23. If your child has any public library books to return they can bring them in on this day and put them in the library return box in the school lobby and Ms. Woznick will get them to the bookmobile. You can also contact the bookmobile librarian Katie Marsh at kmarsh@noblenet.org or 978-921-6062 x2115 to ask for a delivery at school; Ms. Woznick can pick it up and deliver it to your student's classroom.

Gr 8 - Essex Tech Info

Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School will premiere a Virtual Open House on Saturday, November 21, 2020. There will be a series of videos about Essex North Shore and an interactive virtual tour of the school building.

for the greater Beverly Community 

Today - Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. 

Nationally recognized digital safety expert Katie Leclerc Greer (www.klgreer.com ) will conduct a special adults-only presentation with Q&A. Come learn what's new, what's now, and what's next when it comes to your kids and technology. This presentation for adults is in addition to presentations students received during the school day today and Tuesday.

Next Tuesday (B cohort) and Thursday (A cohort) will be Pajama Days! Wear your PJs to school and pay $1 or more to raise money for Riley Rocks Memorial Foundation!



Book Discussion Wed. Nov. 18 @ 11:45

Ms. Woznick just finished reading aloud the book Prairie Lotus by Newbery Award-winning author Linda Sue Park. 

Anyone who has been reading or listening along with the group or on their own is invited to come to a book discussion session on Wed., Nov. 18 at 11:45 am. The link is posted in the Google Classroom.

 This Thursday, November 12 at 6 pm - Presentation on digital safety for parents.

We are excited to welcome Katie LeClerc Greer, a nationally-recognized digital safety expert, to update students, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians/caregivers on the latest tech trends, safety issues, and tips on how to help our kids have a productive, healthy relationship with technology. Thank you to the PTO for their support of this important program.

This parent presentation is in addition to presentations students will receive during the school day.

There are no online classes or meetings today due to Veterans Day but the Be Brave Board with Global Apps choices has been updated.

Ebooks, Free Book & More!

Ms. Woznick, the BMS School Librarian, has been meeting with teams throughout the school to review the many ways students can get reading materials this year. 

This document reviews many different choices for accessing books, ebooks, eaudiobooks, and more.

In addition to public and school library books and ebooks, Ms. Woznick is giving away about 500 books! Browse the list and request yours today.

We are particularly lucky to have access to thousands of titles in the Mass. Library System's Commonwealth ebook collection through the Sora app. Students can download the app from Self Service onto their iPads, or you can get it for free from app stores for personal devices. This video demonstrates how to get Sora and set it up.

No Classes Tomorrow

There are no classes tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans' Day. All school buildings and offices are closed.

Also, on Wednesday, November 25, BMS students will have their regular Wednesday online meetings and activities up until 1:00 pm. All meetings and scheduled instruction will conclude at 1:00 for the Thanksgiving holiday. There is no school on Thursday, November 26 or Friday, November 27.

BMS PTO Meeting Online at 6:30 Tonight!

The BMS PTO will meet online at 6:30 pm tonight, Monday, November 9.

You should have received a communication from the school on Monday with the link to the remote meeting. If you did not get the email (it came from email@blackboard.com) - check your spam and other folders. If you still are not able to find the login information, contact Nancy Stanley at nancyptrain@msn.com.

This is the second PTO meeting of the 2020/21 school year. We will be hearing from a few special guests so make sure you login on time. We will be asking everyone to mute themselves and utilize the chat function in Zoom.

BPL Book Cub: Artemis Fowl

The Beverly Public Library has a young adult book club on Thursday, December 1 from 4-5 pm. with the book Artemis Fowl.

Twelve-year-old Artemis is a millionaire, a genius-and above all, a criminal mastermind. But Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren't the fairies of the bedtime stories-they're dangerous!

The Beverly Girls Travel Basketball season is kicking off with try-outs this week! All girls in grades 4-8 are invited to try out for one of the teams which are being held in the Teen Center gyms at the Sterling YMCA. Grades 5 and 6 tryouts are Monday and Grades 7 and 8 tryouts are on Tuesday.
