The next Student Council meeting will be on Monday, November 26 from 3:05-3:45PM. New members are always welcome!

Before & After School Reminders

We'd like to remind families that the doors open to BMS students at 8:00 am.

In the afternoon, students may remain in the building or on school property after 3:15 only if they are at a supervised after-school activity or working with a teacher. They cannot "hang out" in the hallways or cafeteria.

The late bus is for students who regularly ride the bus and who are at school for a supervised activity.

The library is typically open until 3:45 Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, but hours may vary slightly and are updated daily on a board by the library.

Honors Choir

Honors choir next rehearsal is next Monday at 3pm. in room 155.

From the Sports Desk

The final flag football games of the week were highlighted by some incredible plays and late-game comebacks. The Cowboys beat the Rams 22-18, Florida outlasted LSU 14-8, and Penn St. fell to Michigan 26-18. Ray Kwiatek and Connor Wallace starred for Florida, Ridley Acheson looked sharp at QB, and Daniel Wilder had a heroic game returning 3 interceptions for touchdowns.

The next set of games are scheduled for Monday, November 19th:
  • Georgia vs Texas
  • Alabama vs Auburn
Also, the following games have been postponed to Tuesday, November 20th:
  • Alabama vs Georgia
  • Texas vs. LSU
  • Boston College vs Ohio St.

Alumni Day at BMS

Today was Alumni Day at BMS. Many staff members wore shirts from the school where they went for college or graduate school. While many went to schools in New England, there are others who either come from further afield or who left the area to go to school. It's a great way to start a conversation about how there are many pathways to success.

If you are interested, you can see a map that shows schools our staff have attended.

Thanksgiving Break

BMS students will be dismissed early next Wednesday, November 21, at 1:00 pm. Lunch will not be served that day.

There is no school on Thursday, November 22 or Friday, November 23, in observance of Thanksgiving.

Lost & Found Areas Overflowing

The current Lost and Found area outside the library is overflowing with expensive jackets, sweaters, shirts, lunchboxes and more. There are more lost & found items near the gym. We are in the process of getting coat racks and more boxes in to keep things more organized and clean. Thank you to a wonderful parent, Rachel, who brought in her own rack yesterday to begin the process but there's lots more that didn't even fit on the double rack!

Please urge your child to check this area immediately if they have lost anything or stop by to check it yourself.

By Thanksgiving all lost items unclaimed by their owners will be bagged up and removed from the school.

Yearbook Club

Yearbook club will meet today after school in the 1st neighborhood makerspace on the 4th floor.

iPad Charging Reminders

Please be sure your 7th/8th grader is fully charging their iPad at night.

  • Quit all applications, particularly YouTube, before charging it. Make sure your screen is off. Having some applications running in the background can drain the battery quickly during and after charging.
  • Use only the charging block and cord issued with the iPad. We advise that you label these and store them separately so that you have them ready for use now and so they are available to be turned in when the iPad is returned. The iPad chargers are rated at 12 watts, compared to to the 5 watts for most phone chargers. If you plug an iPad into a lower wattage charger it will take much longer than it would with the correct plug. Low quality and faulty cords can also affect charging.
If your child needs to come to the tech center because of problems with charging, please first be sure you are following these recommendations, and ask your child to bring in the charging block and cord being used when s/he had trouble.
