The Beverly Cross-Country Running Series returns for its third straight season this spring, open to all students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The series consists of three races on Sunday evenings in late April and May, with various races broken up into age appropriate lengths raging from a quarter mile to one mile.
The series started in 2018 with about 80 runners in four different races during a series both in the spring and fall. Again this spring, top runners for the series will be recognized and other "fun" awards will be handed out.
Last year, participants called the Beverly Cross-Country Running Series a "very well-organized race which made it really fun for both kids and spectators" and others said it is a "fun event with lively music and very well organized."
The race dates are April 28, May 5 and May 12 and it will all happen at 5:30 p.m. each evening. Younger ages will run on the field behind North Beverly School and the course for older elementary school and middle school students will also use the trails of the neighboring Norwood Pond nature area.
Cost is $25 for all three races, or $10 per race. Advance online registration is highly recommended at

The goal of the race series is to expose Beverly children to the sport of cross-country running. The series is designed to be fun with a festive and upbeat atmosphere. Both the length of the races and the race schedule is designed to complement other spring sports and activities for North Shore students. All proceeds will benefit the North Beverly Elementary PTO.
