Pajamas for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day

Please note that Friday 9/20 is Pajamas for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day here in Beverly. Pajama Day can be a lot of fun, but it also needs to be safe. Thus, the school dress code is still in effect, with the exception of wearing pajamas, of course!
  • Any slippers worn on Pajama Day must have a rubber sole.
  • A second layer of clothing must be worn under onesies.
  • And hoods are not permitted.
  • Old time sleeping caps are welcome, as long as they do not hide a student’s face.
Students wearing pajamas on Friday should give a $1 donation to their homeroom teacher.

See this flyer for more information.

Writers Club

Writers' Club will meet on Tuesdays in room 441.

See Mrs. Terminello or email her at cterminello@beverlyschools.org for more information.

News Club

The News @ 502 is back starting in October! We will put out newspapers this year but also plan to explore exploring other news media - maybe podcasts, video and more. We want to cover what's going on in our community and what students care about.

We will have an informational meeting on Monday, October 7. The following week is a holiday, so we will have our first official meeting on Monday, October 21. News Club will typically meet on Mondays from 3:05-3:45, although we may go a little later sometimes depending on what's going on.

This club will be open to grades 6-8 during first trimester and we hope to invite grade 5 students later this year.

See Ms. Woznick in the library or Mrs. Lydon for more information.

Cross Country Uniforms for Wednesday's Meet

The Beverly athletic department has advised that BMS cross country team uniforms may not be sent to the school in time for tomorrow's meet. We are hoping they will arrive on time, but if not, we are asking that team members do one of the following
  • Wear an old Beverly XC shirt if they are a returning runner
  • Wear any shirt that says "Beverly" on it
  • Wear a black or orange shirt
If none of these are possibilities, definitely do not stress over it! Uniforms are not necessary and are certainly not required to participate :) It will be cooling off a bit tomorrow so we ask that students come dressed in layers so they can warm up before and after the race. Also please remind your child to bring water and appropriate running shoes tomorrow.

Also, if you are able to help volunteer you should be able to find a coach on the turf field between 3:15-3:45. We will need parents to stand around the course to help direct the flow of traffic as students run the non-intuitive course.

No Glass Water Bottles Please!

Unfortunately, we have had several students drop glass water bottles at school, causing a safety issue due to broken glass on a slippery floor!

Students should bring only plastic or metal water bottles to school.

Also, please remember to label your child's water bottles and lunchboxes, because they are easy to leave behind, and some of the insulated bottles are quite expensive.

Parent Library Volunteers Sought

Ms. Woznick is looking for parent library volunteers who are willing to come in at the start or end of the day either every week or every other week (rotating with another person).

Tasks could include shelving books, helping children find books, checking out books, being a responsible adult in the room, doing inventory, displays, processing books (covers, labels, etc.). If you can only commit for the fall, that's fine. She will do a second look at the schedule in December to drop people who can't commit through the winter and add people who are newly available. Volunteers will have to be CORI'd. If you sign up, you'll get information about that.

If you are interested, please sign up here and she will be in touch soon with details. You can also email her at awoznick@beverlyschools.org.

Direct Donation Drive

Our first fundraiser of the year is here!

The Direct Donation Drive will run from September 16 - October 4th.

There are some amazing prizes up for grabs! 100% of your tax-deductible contribution goes directly to your student's enrichment. That also means no selling and no extra work for you! Every donation makes a difference - and donations are eligible for fantastic raffle prizes!

Check your child’s take home folder for slips to attach to a check, send them to school to be given to their homeroom teachers. Thank you all for your continued support.
