Summer Math

Dear Parents and Students:

Summer work, such as math packets and novel reading, can be useful in achieving grade-level mastery and “bridging” the gap between school years. We believe that any assigned summer work should be appropriate and purposeful.

These summer math packets and directions were developed to provide students an opportunity to review grade level math objectives and to improve math performance. We hope this helps to build anticipation for new learning and give students confidence in their abilities so that they are well prepared for the next level of math.

Entering 5th Grade
This packet will help ease the transition and help reinforce skills that are needed prior to the start of fifth grade to ensure future success. Download the packet here. We are also providing the answer key, so that student progress can be monitored throughout the summer.

Entering 6th and 7th grade - IXL Practice
This practice can help ease the transition and help reinforce skills that are needed prior to the start of seventh grade to ensure future success. This is an optional assignment, so it will not be counted as a grade. Go to IXL.com and enter Username: First initial, last name rcann@beverly (some students may have a 1 or 2 after their name---rcann1@beverly) and Password: First name in lowercase letters
Entering 8th grade - REQUIRED packet
The attached grade 8 math packet is a set of problems all students entering grade eight are REQUIRED to complete as a way to assist in transitioning to eighth grade. You should plan to do one topic a week for 6 weeks of summer break. These packets are due on Wednesday, September 4, the second day back at school.
