School Vacation Feb. 15-19

There are no classes -- in-person or remote -- from Monday, February 15 through Friday, February 19 in observance of Presidents' Day and our annual February vacation week.

Plan Your Outfits - Color Wars Next Thurday & Friday

The Beverly Middle School Peer Leaders are planning a spirit day in order to raise money for a local cause. Thursday, February 11th & Friday, February 12th we will have a schoolwide GRADE COLOR WARS! Students can bring in $1 (or more!) to wear the color assigned to their grade. Anything goes - shirt, pants, or accessories! The more COLOR the better! All money raised will be donated to Family Promise in Beverly.

Family Promise North Shore Boston’s mission is to prevent and end family homelessness through a family-centered, community-based response. They aim to uphold each family's dignity and strength as they accompany families in preventing, navigating, or recovering from situations of homelessness, and to engage the local community as critical partners in this effort.

Our goal is to raise awareness for this local organization and raise as much money as possible to help support families in our community! The grade who raises the most money will win the GRADE COLOR WARS competition and our BMS principals will participate in an exciting surprise!

We hope many students will participate in this fun and friendly competition before heading off for February vacation!
Grade 5 - wear ORANGE

Grade 6 - wear GREEN

Grade 7 - wear RED

Grade 8 - wear BLUE

Please contact Mrs. Nichols (anichols@beverlyschools.org) with any questions.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
BMS 8th Grade Peer Leaders

Reminders from BMS Principal

Fundraiser Next Week
We have a fundraiser occurring next Thursday and Friday to benefit Family Promise. Grade 5 wears Orange, Grade 6 wears Green, Grade 7 wears Red and Grade 8 wears Blue. Bring in $1 or more to donate!

Pickup and Dropoff Traffic Reminders
Also, we continue to work on drop off and pick up as well as bike safety. Today, we were fortunate to have a number of police officers with us to help with the traffic flow on Cabot Street. I do respectfully ask that students are not dropped off in the back parking lot with an attempt to leave the campus at the rear of the building. The only exit on campus in the morning is on to Cabot Street.

Bike Safety
We are concerned about student safety while riding bikes in the community. Many students do not wear helmets and are at risk for major injury. Please see the Mass Bike Website for information.

School Vacation Week
Please make your calendars for winter break. There will be no school Feb 15 - Feb 19th.

Extra Meals Given Out Monday, Feb. 1

Due to the potential winter storm forecasted to hit the area this afternoon and Tuesday the Food Service Department is being proactive and ensuring all families have food in case the forecast is accurate.

Today, Monday February 1, we will be handing out 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches at Beverly High School and will be extending our hours to allow families picking up students from elementary schools to come to the High School for additional meals in case Tuesday is a remote learning day. We will be distributing at Beverly High School today, Monday 2/1 from 10:30-12:30.

This is just a precaution to ensure all families have food in case the forecast is correct. There will still be meals provided on Tuesday if school is in person.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns at 978-921-6132 ext 11129.
