Babysitting Class Starts Thursday

An American Red Cross babysitting class for students in grades 5-8 will be held at Glen Urquhart School on Thursdays beginning January 16 and running through March 5.

This course is designed to help participants develop leadership skills, learn how to keep themselves and others safe, gain useful tools for managing behavior with young children, learn basic child care and first aid. Participants will also learn techniques on how to promote themselves as a trained babysitter.
There are still a couple of spots available, so please sign up ASAP!

Transportation is available from BMS at 3:15 to Glen Urquhart School. Students must be picked up at GUS at 5:00 pm.

Babysitting Class Starts Next Week

An American Red Cross babysitting class for students in grades 5-8 will be held at Glen Urquhart School on Thursdays beginning January 16 and running through March 5.

Gr 8 - Essex Tech Application Deadline Today

Students who plan to apply to Essex Tech but have not yet complete the online application must do so by TODAY, Friday, January 10th via their website.

Representatives from Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School will visit the BMS library on Wednesday, February 12th to interview our applicants. Students will come to the library at a scheduled time, then return to class. 

In the weeks prior to February 12th interviews, Mr. Houlihan (grade 8 School Adjustment Counselor) and Ms. Moustakis (school counseling intern) will meet with applicants to review and practice the interview process.

Early Release Friday 1/17

We want to remind you that:
  • Friday, January 17 will be an early release day for students. They will be dismissed at 12:15  pm. Lunch will not be served. Students must leave the building, as the afternoon is set aside for teacher professional development time.
  • Monday, January 20 is a no-school day for both students and staff, in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Gr 8 - Essex Tech Application Deadline Jan 10

Math Meet Today

Math team will travel to Peabody for the math meet Thursday 1/9. 

We will leave BMS between 3 and 3:30. Please meet Mrs. Shaw in the first floor cafeteria at the end of the day. You must arrange for pick up at BMS upon our return at 5:45.

PTO Meeting 1/16 @ 6pm

The next PTO meeting will be held on Thursday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the BMS library. The Chorus Concert is at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th as well. If you are planning on attending the concert, please consider stopping in the PTO meeting before the concert starts! We are looking for volunteers to help with the Cash Calendar, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year! We hope to see you there!

Gr 8 - BHS Football Meeting Today

This is a reminder to all grade 8 students interested in playing football at BHS next year. Head Coach Andrew Morency and Freshman Coach Dave Wilbur will be here today after school with a short presentation as well as to answer any questions you may have. The meeting will take place at 3:05 in the 3rd floor cafeteria.

The next YMCA Teen Dance is coming up on Friday, January 31 at the Douglas Stephens Teen Center from 7-10 pm. The theme is Decades Dance!

Math Meet Tomorrow

Attention Math Team Members the math meet is on for tomorrow, Thursday 1/9 in Peabody.

Writers' Club

Writers' Club will meet today (Tuesday) from 3:00-3:45 in Room 441 for our postponed Holiday party. Bring a drink!

Hundreds of Items In Lost & Found

The lost & found outside the library is chock-a-block full with hundreds of items: dozens of jackets, sweaters, pants, shirts, lunchboxes, water bottles, hats, mittens, scarves, backpacks, boots, books, and other items. We are all out of hangers to hang it all up! Please strongly encourage your child to check the lost and found, or stop by yourself.

Items are tagged regularly with a date and donated after a month or more has passed. All items tagged during November will be donated this week.  Items tagged during December will be donated before February vacation week.

BMS Spring Musical - Lion King Jr.

Beverly Middle School will be presenting Lion King Jr. this spring! Auditions will be held on Tuesday, February 25 after school in the BMS auditorium and callbacks will be on Monday, March 2. Not everyone who auditions for the show will be called back for a part, but everyone will be cast.

Everyone who is auditioning will take part in a short dance audition. If you are looking for a lead role or a solo singing role, you should prepare a verse and chorus of a song that makes you shine! You will need a karaoke track to sing with.

PTO Meeting Next Week
