Parking Area off Balch Street

Thanks to the efforts of Mayor Cahill's Office, the School Department, and especially Steve Drohosky of the Cummings Center Properties, middle school families will be able to utilize a designated area for parking and pick up directly across the street from the Balch Street school entrance, on Cummings Center property, for the remainder of the school year.
The area is noted on the map that is pictured here. Click here for a more detailed map

iPad Styluses

A few parents have asked for suggestions on iPad styluses to buy. They are not needed for most apps, but you or your child may find them useful or engaging for certain activities. The Apple brand styluses are good but quite expensive, but there are many less expensive options on the market - the hard thing is picking one.

An article in this week's Wirecutter has a recommendation gives a good overview of purchase considerations and the competition and has a recommendation for one that is $10.

Driveway Construction Begins Monday

In an effort to provide more safety and improve the traffic flow at the Balch Street entrance of the middle school, contractors will begin widening the driveway on Monday, December 10th. Work will continue for approximately 10 days and during that time only one lane will be accessible from 7:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., which will impact morning drop off.

There will be a traffic detail with officers stationed at each end of the work zone and although the driveway will continue to support two-way traffic, while the work is being done, there will only be one lane available.

We anticipate some delay in the morning. During afternoon pick-up the driveway will be back to normal as work will be completed for the day and the driveway will return to two lanes. Please consider dropping your students off prior to getting to the driveway and letting them walk the rest of the way.

We appreciate your cooperation while this work is being performed.
