Virtual MLK Jr. Day Event - Beverly Human Rights Committee

On Monday, January 18th from 9-10 am, Beverly's Human Rights Committee will host the City of Beverly's annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. remembrance event.

The program will be broadcast on BevCam Channel 8 as well online at https://beverlyhumanrights.org/

This will be a youth-led presentation with a montage of videos gathered from Beverly students. This event will also include words by Mayor Mike Cahill; Abu Toppin, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director; Dr. AndrĂ© Morgan, Beverly Public School's Director of Opportunity, Access, and Equity; and January Gill O'Neil, author, poet, and professor.

Although we miss meeting in person, we embrace the opportunity to share an hour in remembrance of this great American civil rights leader, whose vision is perhaps more relevant than ever for our community and our country.

Spread the word by sharing this Facebook event or using your favorite social media channel!

Reminders from BMS Principal

BMS Principal Lisa Oliver sent this message out on Tuesday morning to parents & guardians. It is duplicated here for your reference.

Dear BMS Families,

Happy New Year! I hope that you have been able to rest and enjoy the holiday season!

As we transitioned from remote learning back to our hybrid model yesterday, we were excited to have students in the building and participating in direct instruction.

I do respectfully ask that if you have traveled, that your child quarantine and receive a negative test before returning to school. The safety of all is our highest priority. In addition, within the building all safety protocols will be diligently followed including mandatory mask wearing, hand sanitizing and social distancing in all areas of the campus.

As a gentle reminder, also please remember that students are invited into the building at 8:15 for breakfast and not until 8:30 if they are headed to their homeroom. Also, when students have scheduled appointments during the day, we do ask that a note is given to the front office. Thank you so much for all of your help!

Mark your calendar:
  • Friday January 15th is an early release day on our district calendar. We will be bypassing this and students will participate in their normal schedule to allow more time on learning for students.
  • Monday January 19th: No School in recognition of Martin Luther King Day.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you!

Best,
Lisa Oliver
BMS Principal
