French 8 Families

Attention French 8 students, parents and guardians!

As a capping event for our unit on "La cuisine française," we will join together on Thursday, October 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a community supper.

The event will take place at BMS in the first floor cafeteria.

This will be a chance for students (with help from home) to make and share the dishes they have learned about and to celebrate French culture through its food.

Madame Diop, our new Grade 7 French teacher, will be joining us.

Please know that if you are not able to bring a dish, you are still welcome to attend. I will be making a few dishes myself, so there should be enough for everyone.

Questions? Contact Madame Faria at lfaria@beverlyschools.org.

Kate Allen's Visit

Author Kate Allen visited BMS yesterday from Minneapolis for 2 fantastic assemblies with our 7th and 8th graders. She talked about her book, The Line Tender, which is set locally and involves friends, family -- and sharks!

Mesages from the PTO

The PTO's next meeting will be Thursday, November 14 At 6:30 PM in the BMS library.

Meeting minutes can be found here from the first PTO gathering with Mr. Poska and the School Committee (they come to every meeting). The PTO's meeting minutes can ALSO be found on the PTO website as well.

There is still time to donate to the PTO's Direct Donation Drive via Venmo. Every dollar benefits all students in the Beverly Middle School.

Students with Asthma & Severe Allergies

This is a friendly reminder from the Beverly Middle School Health Office.

If your child has severe asthma or life-threatening allergies, please send in an extra inhaler or EpiPen to be kept in the clinic at school. All medications kept in the health office require a signed parental/guardian medication form and a signed physician medication order by a licensed prescriber.

Students who need to carry their own inhalers or EpiPens must have written self-administration permission from the licensed prescriber and the parent/guardian.

Attached is the Medication Administration Parent Information, a copy of Beverly Public Schools Physician Medication Order and Parental Consent.

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us at (978) 921-6103 Option 7, or email jelder@beverlyschools.org, emoffett@beverlyschools.org or ktobyne@beverlyschools.org.

Thank you!

Cross Country - Meet Postponed

We just received word this morning that tomorrow's Orange team meet in Peabody has been postponed until Thursday. Please let us know if your child can't attend because of the last-minute schedule change. There will be no practice tomorrow.

BMS XC teams are pleased to be hosting the 7th annual Marc Burns Invitational "Friendship Meet" on Thursday, October 17th at our home course. Coach Arsnow has been coordinating with Saints Academy and Salem Middle School, who will be joining us for this community event. This is an optional meet, but we do hope for a strong turnout to support the family and to remember Marc. Please see the attached flyer for more details. We hope you will consider encouraging your kids to participate!

Also, the annual Jim Munn Invitational Meet will be held at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester one week later, on Thursday, October 24th. This is also an optional meet. Note: This is not part of our meet schedule and there will be no transportation. It is 100% voluntary and requires parents to organize and drive if their children are interested. See this flyer for more information.

The league NEC meet date is still TBD, and will be held at Stage Fort Park Gloucester. Last year we were limited in the number of runners who were eligible for this meet, so stay tuned.

Orange team Dates:
10/3: Meet @ Peabody
10/10: Home vs. Winthrop
10/16: Meet @ Salem
10/17: Marc Burns Friendship Meet (optional)
10/23: Meet @Gloucester
