Summer Reading

Students across the school talked about what they read this summer during the first block today. We are a community of readers! Students in grades 6-8 turned in their summer reading projects. This will be part of the first trimester grade for most 6-8 students, unless they are new to Beverly Public Schools or have received other instructions from their ELA teacher.

Students who were not in school or otherwise unable to turn in their project on Friday should bring it directly to Ms. Woznick in the BMS Library. Please be sure it is clearly labeled with the student's name and homeroom so that they may receive credit.

Summer reading books and response project information is posted online at https://beverlymssummerreading.blogspot.com/.

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Woznick by email at awoznick@beverlyschools.org.

Valuable Info on PTO Website

The Beverly Middle School PTO website contains lots of valuable information, including:
  • Teachers' and Parents' guides to Fortnite. The teacher post is specifically about how Fortnite can be used to insert educational content and is valuable to parents as well. Check it out!! (The best way to jump from the Bus is to learn some super easy middle school math!!!)
  • An upcoming City marijuana meeting. The City's approach to legal marijuana dispensaries will directly impact your middle school student.
  • A specific tab that allows anyone to donate to the PTO using the Direct Donation Drive which is ongoing and is the PTO's only Fall fundraiser, raising money that supports field trips.

From the Cross Country Desk

Congratulations to Karli Atwood, Grade 6 and TJ Betts, Grade 8, both had a first place finish yesterday at Swampscott. Great show!

West Nile Virus in Beverly

The Beverly Board of Public Health would like to remind you that even though summer is winding down, it's still mosquito season, and West Nile Virus has been found in a mosquito sample in Beverly.

Please take precautions for yourself and your children, particularly around dusk, by wearing clothing that covers your arms and legs and by using insect repellant. You can help prevent mosquitos hatching on your property by draining standing water and being careful to only open windows that are screened in.

See the attached letter for more details.
